Tool Maker/Sinker EDM Machinist – Fort Wayne, IN
$28.00–$35.50/hour | First Shift | Company-Paid Employee Health Insurance
Precision Work Without Production-Line Repetition
If you know how to program and set up Sinker and Wire EDM equipment—and can hold tolerances of ±0.0005 inch or tighter—this is an opportunity to work on challenging, low-volume components instead of running the same part all day.
We’re seeking an experienced Tool Maker / Sinker EDM Machinist for a growing Fort Wayne precision machine shop supporting automation, aerospace, and other demanding industries. You’ll take ownership of your work from programming and setup through machining and final inspection.
Compensation and Benefits
- $28.00–$35.50/hour, based on experience

What You’ll Do
- Manufacture tooling details, prototypes, and aerospace components
- Program, set up, and operate Sinker EDM and Wire EDM equipment
- Operate an EDM hole popper and other machine-shop equipment
- Fabricate graphite electrodes using grinding and milling processes
- Produce high-precision, low-quantity parts to demanding specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, specifications, and GD&T callouts
- Adjust machine settings to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality
- Inspect completed parts using precision measuring equipment
- Perform routine machine maintenance to support consistent performance
- Collaborate with engineers and machinists to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges
- Manage assignments independently with minimal supervision
What You’ll Need
- At least five years of practical machine-shop experience using EDM equipment
- Strong Sinker EDM or Wire EDM programming and setup experience
- Ability to independently program, set up, and operate assigned machines
- Experience holding dimensional tolerances of ±0.0005 inch or tighter
- Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T interpretation skills
- Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, and similar inspection equipment
- Personal machinist tools and measuring equipment
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across engineering and machining teams
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Additional Experience That Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience machining steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and exotic aerospace materials
- Conversational programming experience
- Mastercam experience
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Experience solving complex tooling, electrode, or EDM process problems
