New York Labor Law Attorney – New York, NY
A growing New York City litigation boutique is seeking a New York-licensed attorney with 2–8 years of experience to join its insurance defense and New York Labor Law practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience involving New York Labor Law §§ 200, 240, and 241(6), construction accidents, premises liability, general liability, or high-exposure personal injury litigation.
The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of litigation experience and an established insurance defense or Labor Law background. However, attorneys with 2–4 years of experience are strongly encouraged to apply if they have hands-on experience attending hearings, conducting or defending depositions, drafting motions, and handling litigation files.

New York Labor Law Attorney Qualifications
- Active New York Bar admission
- Juris Doctor degree
- 2–8 years of litigation experience
- Experience attending court hearings or conferences
- Experience taking, defending, preparing for, or meaningfully participating in depositions
- Experience drafting substantive motions
- Experience handling and advancing litigation files
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple active matters
- Familiarity with legal billing and time-entry requirements
- Willingness to work within a hybrid schedule and maintain a professional in-office presence

Responsibilities
- Handle New York Labor Law, construction accident, premises liability, general liability, and high-exposure insurance defense matters
- Manage litigation files from assignment through settlement, dismissal, or trial
- Investigate claims and develop litigation strategies
- Attend hearings, court conferences, oral arguments, and trial calls
- Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives
- Draft pleadings, discovery demands and responses, legal memoranda, and substantive motions
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, including summary judgment motions
- Analyze liability, damages, comparative negligence, contractual indemnification, and litigation exposure
- Prepare insureds, clients, witnesses, and experts for depositions and trial
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences
- Prepare case evaluations, litigation plans, status reports, and insurance carrier reports
- Maintain compliance with carrier billing guidelines and reporting deadlines
- Accurately record time and meet billable-hour expectations
- Communicate proactively with partners, clients, carriers, and other members of the litigation team
- Senior attorneys may mentor junior associates and assist with case strategy
