Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of salaried management experience in a high-volume, upscale scratch kitchen
  • Strong passion for culinary excellence, guest service, and local sourcing
  • Experience leading, training, and developing kitchen teams
  • Understanding of kitchen systems, safety, and best practices
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and committed to continuous learning

Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills

  • Interest in supporting local farms and seasonal ingredients
  • Wine knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality
  • Leadership style that inspires positivity, accountability, and teamwork

Sous Chef Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in leading, mentoring, and motivating kitchen staff
  • Ensure high standards in food quality, safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Conduct line checks and maintain compliance with best practices
  • Manage daily kitchen operations and inventory to ensure profitability
  • Create an engaging, supportive, and high-integrity kitchen culture
  • Play an active role in menu execution, innovation, and guest experience
